What is Read to Succeed?

Recognizing that the amount of time spent in recreational reading is a predictor of students' academic success, the Merrillville Community School Corporation has adopted a corporation-wide required reading program. All MHS students are required to read 48 points per year from the MCSC Read to Succeed Required Reading List. Students' progress will be assessed each trimester. Students are required to achieve 70% or higher on the corresponding computer book quiz to receive credit for the book. The letter grade will be listed on the report cards each trimester.

All book assessments must be completed no later than five days prior to the end of the trimester in order for the students to receive credit.

High school students will receive one credit upon completion of 192 points.
